Sasha Banks and Naomi: WWE legend offers support after shock exit

Former WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James is the latest name to lend her support to Monday Night Raw’s Sasha Banks and Naomi walkout.

The Women’s Tag Team Champions declined to compete on Raw last week and handed their belts over to John Laurinaitis before leaving the building. The walkout was apparently due to Banks and Naomi not being happy with the creative plan for them and the women’s singles titles.

The stance was backed by a number of notable names in WWE, including Naomi’s husband, Jimmy Uso, and now Mickie James has commented on the situation and hasn’t been shy about speaking up.

Talk to Exploded open radioJames has an inside view of the WWE women’s locker room and praised Sasha and Naomi for standing up for themselves.

When you leave, “they have taken a stand for them, but the machine continues to function”. It’s a reality when things get to this point, few people fight back. I think there’s a lot of times when people want to say something or feel a certain way or do something and feel justified in feeling that way, like they should, but they don’t say anything and they just smile and walk out there down and do a job whether they like it or not. We have all done this.

This is another reason why I commend them for defending themselves. It’s a big statement and it’s unfortunate that they felt the need to get to this level and it’s unfortunate that you don’t hear people defending themselves and it gets to this point.

James, a former WWE Women’s Champion, who made history this year by competing in the 2022 Royal Rumble while holding the Impact Knockouts title, also dismissed the idea that other companies would be deterred from working with Sasha. and Naomi if they were to leave WWE.

“Sacha is a star. “Oh, are other companies going to worry about working with them?” No, because they are stars. You can’t take away the value they have of being on and merchandise sales and talent and ability and love and passion for the business It’s probably more about what it is, unboxing it all, if they poured their love into something and felt like it wasn’t valued. It’s very frustrating. We can all understand that we get frustrated sometimes. I’m sure we’ve all had our issues. You think that’s the power of social media? , but it was WWE that pulled the trigger letting the cat out of the bag. People only hear one side of it.”

Banks and Naomi won the Women’s Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania, but according to reports, they weren’t happy with plans that would see them both lose title matches at Hell in a Cell next month.

The walkout caused chaos on Monday Night Raw, and the scheduled six-pack main event had to be quickly changed to Becky Lynch vs. Asuka. A match that saw The Empress of Tomorrow book their spot as Bianca Belair’s challenger for her Raw Women’s Championship at Hell in a Cell.
