iPad may soon get a version of WhatsApp thanks to support for multiple devices

iPad users could finally get WhatsApp support, all thanks to the new Multi device 2.0 feature that lets you use the messaging app on different devices with the same account. According to a new report via Wabetainfo, WhatsApp is testing cross-device functionality to let you use iPad and Android tablet using the same mobile number.

Tablets are making a comeback and iPads have already been the popular choice among shoppers. But after all these years, WhatsApp has never released a native app for the Apple tablet. But the new feature could be a blessing in disguise for iPad users, giving them direct access to WhatsApp.

The feature is available in beta right now, so it’s not even certain that WhatsApp will bring it to everyone. WhatsApp is available through the App Store for Android and iOS devices, but it is not optimized to work on tablets, which is why most people use the web version to access the messaging app.

Since, the report does not explain how compatibility will be offered. Will the iPad be getting a brand new app or will users have to log in through the WhatsApp web platform. We hope Whatsapp is working on an iPad app, just as it plans to have an app for the macOS version in the near future.

We have never understood the reason why WhatsApp never brings a native app to iPad users even though millions of people are using it across the world. The change in position, if true, is a good sign and will surely excite iPad users, who will not need any secondary measures to use the messaging app in the near future.

Multi-device feature 2.0 enabled WhatsApp users to log into their account on the web version without mirroring the phone all the time. The platform now works in standalone mode, so you don’t need the phone to connect.
