Apple warns MILLIONS of iPhone users to change settings today – it’s urgent
APPLE has released an important iPhone update that you need to install as soon as possible.
The alert started appearing on Wednesday evening – and protects you from dangerous hacking attacks.
Keeping your iPhone up to date is extremely important.
For starters, it upgrades your device with new features to enjoy.
But it also means you install key security updates from Apple.
The latest update is called iOS 15.6.1 and can be downloaded for free right now.
Apple says the update fixes a number of security flaws that are “actively being exploited.”
This means that it is very important that you update your iPhone as soon as possible.
“This update provides important security updates and is recommended for all users,” Apple said.
To do this, go to Settings > General > Software Update.
These security updates resolve issues in Apple’s iPhone code or systems.
Hackers can exploit these bugs to take over parts (or even all) of your device.
Apple therefore corrects them regularly with updates.
But if you don’t regularly install iOS updates on your iPhone, the loopholes used by hackers remain open.
It’s also important to make sure you’re using a relatively recent model.
Some very old iPhone models no longer receive iOS updates.
This puts you at significant risk of hacking attacks, so it’s worth considering upgrading as soon as possible.
For example, when the iOS 16 update arrives in September, the iPhone 6S, iPhone 7, and 1st generation iPhone SE will be cut by Apple.
These handsets were compatible with the current iOS 15.6.1, but won’t get iOS 16.
If you’re using iPhones older than that, you’re already cut off, so you should upgrade to a newer model immediately.
Here is the complete list of devices compatible with iOS 16:
- iPhone 13
- iPhone 13 mini
- iPhone 13 Pro
- iPhone 13 Pro Max
- iPhone 12
- iPhone 12 mini
- iPhone 12 Pro
- iPhone 12 Pro Max
- iPhone 11
- iPhone 11 Pro
- iPhone 11 Pro Max
- iPhone Xs
- iPhone XS Max
- iPhone XR
- iPhone X
- iPhone 8
- iPhone 8Plus
- iPhone SE (2nd generation or later)
Not all iPhones on this list will receive iOS 16.
If you’re using an older iPhone, you’ll just need to upgrade your handset to a newer device to access iOS 16.
